Last Will and Testament
Samuel Drewry (1763 - 1826)
Southampton County, Va.

I, Samuel Drewry, of the County of Southampton do make this my last will and testament as follows, (viz): First, I give to my daughter, Anna Carr, all the property in her possession which I have heretofore given her. Secondly, I give to my son, Arthur Drewry, five hundred dollars and my negro man Jim to him and his heirs forever. Thirdly, I give to my daughter Edney Drewry my negro girl Matilote and her future increase to her and her heirs forever. Fourthly, my will and desire is that the remainder of my slaves and personal estate be equally divided between all my children excepting my daughter, Anna Carr, giving one share to the heirs of my son James, deceased, to be equally divided between them.
Fifthly, my will and desire is that all my land may be sold to the highest bidder by my executors out of the sales of which I give to my daughter, Edney Drewry, five hundred dollars and to my daughter-in-law Fannie Drewry one hundred and fifty dollars the remainder of the sales of my said land to be divided in the same manner as is directed in the division of my personal estate and slaves.
Lastly, I do appoint my sons ( ) Drewry and Jesse Drewry executors to this my last will and testament given under my hand and seal the 15th day of August in the year 1825.
