Our
next stop following the farming village was at a beautiful resort
for lunch. This was not the same place we stopped on our first trip
into China, but it was equally as nice. Lunch was served and quite
good, and it brought back memories from that first trip. During lunch
we were seated at a round table. In the center was a lazy Susan the
waitresses placed bottled sodas and beers on. We each reached forward
to take our preferred drink and the man sitting next to me took a
long-neck bottle of beer. Having secured his beer he immediately began
to wife the top edge, as we often do when drinking from bottles, and
he noticed that there was a chip on the edge. He summoned the waitress,
pointed to the broken chip and gave her the bottle. She looked the
bottle over and placed it back on the lazy Susan. The man again picked
up the bottle and emphatically pointed out the broken chip on the
bottle's rim. She took the bottle from him and again placed it back
on the lazy Susan. At that point he gave up recognizing the fact that
there was no way that bottle was going back to the kitchen. It remained
on the lazy Susan until we left. |

On
the way to our next destination, the Memorial Middle School of Dr.
Sun Yat-Sen, we passed a number of fields with Water Buffalo roaming
free. Anne wanted a picture of one of them so we asked the tour guide
to have the driver stop the bus and allow us to take a picture. They
cordially obliged, but when the bus stopped and I stepped up to the
front to get off and get a good picture of the Ox they refused to
open the door and let me out. As you can see by the streaks and spots
this photo was taken through the bus window. Not very good but another
memory. |
